The Beach House

The first week of August we spent with Peter's family just outside of Destin, FL at a house on the beach. (Destin is in the panhandle near Pensacola.) I must say, we were very thankful to have such a short drive for our first Datin family reunion. It only took us 4 1/2 hours to get there. There sure are perks to living in Florida.

Our house was the blue one in the middle. It was a nice big house, 5 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths. Beautiful on the inside. Perfect for a nice family get together. Josh still talks about the beach house a month later. The other day, he asked if we were going to go to the beach house, so it was apparently a good experience for him too. He loved hanging out with his cousins, running up and down the stairs and playing on the beach every day. Emily had a great time too. I think the were both disappointed when it was time to leave.

Here is the view of the Gulf of Mexico from our balcony. On the left, there's the trail we took to walk down to the beach everyday. The grassy areas are the dunes. Dunes are protected around here, so you're not allowed to walk on them at all. It sure was nice that the trail was there.
